Anjin reaches out to Arda Transau community

secondary school; 10kg seed packs of maize, monthly food hampers for each of the 334 households; 2 000 litres of diesel for tillage as well as 800 litres for the secondary school generator.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mnangagwa said the education sector was facing formidable challenges that are taxing and fresh approaches were needed to deal with these challenges.
He lauded Anjin’s computer gesture saying it would augment President Mugabe’s computerisation campaign aimed at revolutionising the education sector.
“Computer and communication technologies are able to offer opportunities to significantly improve teaching and learning in schools,” he said.

“In order to make tomorrow’s workforce competitive in an increasingly high-tech world, learning computer skills must be a priority.
“We expect teachers here to enrich themselves and the kids. We are happy that Anjin has complied with its agreement with Government.
“Arda Transau has become a model of the whole world,” he said, adding that computer skills should be taught as early as possible.

Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Xin Shunkang, reaffirmed China’s desire to see Zimbabwe develop.
He said China would continue supporting developing countries such as Zimbabwe by pursuing policies that ensure the technological, educational and health of locals.
Mr Xin hailed the economic relations between Harare and Beijing and pledged that the company will continue to assist resettled families.

“China’s involvement in Zimbabwe has been increasingly directed towards broader macro-economic objectives.
“As a government, we are very excited with the developments happening here as well as the relocation exercise to Arda Transau.
“We will work to ensure better lives for Zimbabweans through the provision of health and irrigation facilities for the families.

“The water plant has already been handed over to Zinwa hence work will commence as soon as the authorities have finished the design works – hopefully before the end of this season,” said Mr Xin.
Anjin is living to its corporate social responsibility of ensuring that relocated families have access to basic social services.

The company has also built about 400 homes, comprising a four-bedroom house, Blair toilet and thatched hut.
It has also built a clinic, and two schools, and is developing an irrigation scheme.

The relocated families receive food handouts on a three-month basis spanning to the harvesting period.
Anjin has invested close to US$310 million towards setting up open-cast mining operations at Chiadzwa and is sitting on an estimated stockpile of two million carats of the precious stones.
