Econet was recognised for dominating the telecoms industry and expanding its services to countries including Botswana, Lesotho, Burundi, Rwanda and New Zealand.
“Now, Econet is looking to build Africa’s largest solar power company,” Forbes said, adding the company was a pacesetter in introducing a death and repatriation policy for its subscribers staying outside their home countries.
Other companies making it to the list include South African retail giants Woolworths and Pick n’ Pay, telecommunications company MTN, branding com-pany Fast Brands, as well as fast foods company, Nandos.
Kenyan companies Safaricom, a telecoms provider, media firm the Nation Media Group and East African Breweries also made it to the list. Nigeria’s Iroko Television also made it in the top 10. — New Ziana.
