Sengwayo-Tshiwilowilo, affectionately known as Selly by her peers, said the album was dedicated to her late parents, Reverend Morgan Sengwayo and Mrs Rhoda Sengwayo.
Sengwayo-Tshiwilowilo, who has managed to distinguish herself from other musicians with a powerful and passionate voice, believes that the songs on her album will help uplift listeners spiritually. “My songs are mostly about prayer and dwelling in the Word of God and I believe the songs are soul enriching and you will surely be spiritually inspired the moment you listen to them.
“I don’t just sing to entertain people but to also encourage Christians through my music to draw the souls of the non-believers closer to God who is indeed our spiritual redeemer,” she said.
Sengwayo-Tshiwilowilo said the title track Wings of a Dove is directed to those who might be going through a rough patch in life. The song reminds those going through tough moments in life that God is the sole comforter and provider of mankind.
“God will always send down his love to his children just like what he did to his only son, Jesus Christ and therefore we need to put him first in everything that we do. Even during turbulent times we need to hold onto His Word,” she said.
Sengwayo-Tshiwilowilo said Cling to the Bible, was her favourite song, which she said reminded her of the heavenly treasures that await all those who believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ.
“Clinging to the Bible literally means living according to the Word of God. In every situation the pilgrim must find God’s will from the Bible,” she said.
Another song, Obani Labo is a popular hymn that is sung internationally and it brings the listener to the day when the children of God shall march into the Pearly Gates. The other tracks that are on the album are Come and Dine, Take Time, Bab’ Osezulwini and I will Cross the Greener River.
