ANOTHER man, suspected of having taken part in the Hello Paisa money transfer booth robbery at Kuwadzana 2 Shopping Centre early this year, has been arrested.

Munyaradzi Muchero Hodzi was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare regional magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka who remanded him in custody pending finalisation of investigations.

He was advised to approach the High Court for bail considerations as he is facing a third schedule offence.

Allegations are that on April 16, the complainant who is unnamed in the State’s papers but is an employee of Hello Paisa, and two guards – Elina Sakunaka and Charles Maoneke from Volsec Security Company – were at Kuwadzana 2 Shopping Centre manning the whole complex.

Prosecutors allege that Hodzi and his accomplices – Edson Murambidzi and Takudzwa Makanha – who are already in custody were armed with four unidentified pistols, four axes and an iron bar.

They confronted the complainant who was doing perimeter checks at the shop.

They manhandled the complainant and forced him to advise them where the other guards were.

They tied their hands and legs and one of them remained on guard while the other three proceeded to the back of the building.

The robbers forced open the metal door and a screen gate to gain entry into the shop.

They blasted a safe using explosives and stole cash amounting to US$9,000.

The gang allegedly also stole a revolver with a magazine of five rounds of ammunition from a gun cabinet.

On July 22, Hodzi was arrested leading to the recovery of the stolen firearm which had been concealed underground at the back of his two-roomed house.

On the second count, Hodzi and his accomplices allegedly broke into a Mukuru Money transfer shop where they blasted a safe several times but failed to open it.
