THE Zimbabwe Newspapers-owned Star FM has reaffirmed its position as the country’s leading commercial radio station after winning the Superbrand of the Year Award (2023) in the electronic media category.
This is the seventh time that Star FM has received recognition at the Superbrand Awards, since the radio station hit the airwaves in 2012.
The Superbrand Awards are an annual event organised by the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe to acknowledge excellence among local brands and promote competition among companies.
Zimpapers Radio Broadcasting Division general manager Mr Comfort Mbofana said the award represents the excellent work done by the Zimpapers team.
“Star FM will soon be celebrating its 12-year anniversary and this is the seventh time we have won this award in the electronic media category. We don’t take it lightly and I’m sure this is a testimony of how far we have come from and where we are going,” said Mr Mbofana.
He applauded partners who have been assisting to grow the Star FM brand.
“We cannot do this alone, we have a lot of partners who are always there to support us and we really appreciate their unwavering backing.”
Star FM was the first station to be established under the Zimpapers Radio Broadcasting Division. It was launched in June 2012 to usher in a new era in radio broadcasting as the country’s first independent radio station.
