Appropriation Bill gazetted

Government has gazetted the Appropriation (2017) Bill which seeks to pave way for the adoption of this year’s National Budget presented in Parliament by Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa last year.Minister Chinamasa last December proposed a $4,1 billion budget under the theme ‘Pushing Production Frontiers Across all Sectors of the Economy’.

The statement projected a budget imbalance of $400 million with revenue projected at US$3,7 billion against an expenditure of US$4,1 billion. The Appropriation Bill is expected to be debated when the August House resumes sitting next week.

Read part of the Bill: “The Consolidated Revenue Fund is hereby charged with such sums of money as may be required for the service of Zimbabwe during the year ending on the 31st December, 2017.”

According to the proposed budgetary allocations, the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry gets the largest chunk of the cake with US$800 million.
