Archbishop Loveless Matarirano Manhango has been laid to rest at the Bethesda Apostolic Church’s Chiwiriri shrine in Chikomba District.
The burial was attended by thousands of people from all walks of life including Government officials and leaders from other churches.
People gathered at Chiwiriri shrine as early as 7 am and by the time the body was buried, thousands had already gathered.
The chief mourner, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Dr Apolonnia Munzverengwi described the late Archbishop as someone who was prayerful.
She said Archbishop Manhango should also be remembered for his unwavering support for the Government and communities.
“He is someone who supported Government programmes. I used to come here for prayers. He was a prayerful leader, a humble person who loved everyone,” she said.
Archbishop Manhango’s wife, Mrs Tsitsi Manhango described her late husband as someone who had abundant love for his family.
“He was a loving husband and I am proud to say he loved me unconditionally,” she said.
“He loved his family and made sure he provided us with everything that we needed. He was someone who prayed without ceasing.
“My prayer is for the church to remains united and prayerful. The late Archbishop, my husband is now resting and we will continue with the work of the Lord. My union with Archbishop Manhango was from above.”
Archbishop Manhango died on November 5, 2024, at his home in Harare. He was 104.
He is survived by his wife Tsitsi and six children.
