Archers thrash Railstars, extend log lead

ARCHERS thumped bitter rivals Railstars in a Bulawayo Metropolitan Darts League match on Wednesday and stretched their lead on the log to 18 points. Albert Tawanda, Brian Ndlovu, Nkululeko Ncube and Stanley James were outstanding for Archers who have now played 18 games without defeat.

Railstars organising secretary Steven Bingandandi described their loss as a bad day in office and will soon re-group and march forward. ‘‘It was just a bad day in office and we can describe it as a minor setback. We will re-group and march on as we prepare for future games,’’ said Bingandandi.

McClean Chirwa, Mgcini Nkala and Patrick Zimidzi played well but in a losing cause for Railstars.

‘‘We have good players and I hope some of them will be selected to represent Bulawayo province during Heroes Championships which will be played at Hillside Teachers College,’’ said Bingandandi.

Old Nic Mine failed to take advantage of Railstars’ defeat to be tied on points when they were beaten 18-22 by ZRP Bulawayo.

Highlanders were the biggest winners when they outclassed CAAZ 30-9 while struggling Zimbabwe Saints continued with their poor form going down 14-25 to Parkview Kanka.

Meanwhile, the game between Zimbabwe School of Mines and New Dawn was abandoned after tempers flared.

It is the second time this has happened between the two teams and the league’s organising secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo will soon summon them for a hearing.

‘‘Matches between these two teams are filled with tension because they are neighbours. We will summon them for a hearing soon because we want to restore sanity in the league,’’ said Nkomo.
