ABOUT 30 business executives will take to the Harry Allen Golf Club greens tomorrow morning in the Mbada Golf Society bi-annual tournament.
Society captain Kwangwari Kwangwari, who is also a member of Harry Allen Golf Club situated along Bulawayo-Gwanda Road, said players were expected to tee off soon after mid-morning with prizegiving set for the evening.

“We will use the medal play format and as usual we expect competition to be stiff,” said Kwangwari, who like the rest of the field will be challenging for the top position that was clinched by former Zimbabwe Saints player and coach Ebson Sugar Muguyo.

Medal play is simply another term for stroke play. That is, a round of golf in which the score is kept by counting strokes and totalling them.

Some of the players expected to take part include Clement Sibanda who plays club golf at Bulawayo Golf Club, the Harry Allen duo of Brian Sanangurai and former Highlanders treasurer and chairman Themba Ndlela.

Kwangwari said the major aim of the bi-annual golf tournament was to raise funds for the less priviledged members of the society as well as promoting the game of golf among young business executives.

In their last tournament held at Bulawayo Golf Club, Muguyo scored a gross score of 84 that saw him netting 70 as a 14 handicapper to come out tops ahead of female player Margaret Vera who grossed 90. Vera is a 16 handicapper and that saw her netting 74 while captain Kwangwari whose handicap is a decent 10 netted 75 after grossing a score of 85.

Muguyo also won the nearest to the pin prize on hole 15 with Joseph Mushaka and Wishes Nyoni winning the closest to the pins on Hole 3 and 7 respectively.
