Arenel blow chance to go on top

ZIFA Southern Region Division One title chasers Arenel Movers missed a great opportunity to climb to the top of the log when they played out a goalless draw with Indosakusa at White City Stadium’s B-Arena yesterday.

With log leaders Hwange’s match against Binga Pirates, which was meant to take place in Dete yesterday not going ahead, it was a perfect opportunity for Arenel to go top of the log had they beaten Indosakusa as a win would have taken them to 24 points, one ahead of Hwange.

Kudzayi Mhandire could only share spoils with Indosakusa, which leaves them a point behind Hwange who are on 33, but Chipangano have a game in hand.

Hwange’s match against Binga Pirates in Dete could not take place after the latter appealed a decision by the Zifa Southern for them to play home matches on neutral grounds.

This follows crowd trouble in their home fixture against ZPC Hwange, which saw Binga Pirates fans attack referee Hardly Ndazi accusing him of awarding a dubious penalty to the visitors.

On Friday, Ayanda Ncube and Kelvin Chigonero’s goals gave FC Talen Vision victory over ZPC Hwange at Mthwakazi Stadium in Filabusi.

The win saw Lizwe Sweswe’s men take advantage of Mountain Climbers’ inactivity to move into fourth as they are now on 26 points.
