Robbers raided the famous George Stark High School in Mbare, and Glen Norah 2 High School, on Saturday and got away with an undisclosed amount of money and other valuables.
Three robbers attacked one of the security guards, Abisai Mushaikwa (32) at George Stark High School.
They tied two other guards — Nyasha Timbira (34) and Whitehead Chibara (29).
Abisai sustained head injuries.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the robbers were reported to have been armed with a pistol and an iron bar.
“Police are investigating armed robbery cases involving two schools in Harare,” said Insp Chakanza.
“In one of the cases, at a school in Mbare, three security guards were left tied and one security guard escaped and hid under a bus, which was parked in the school yard.
“While at the administration offices, the accused persons used an iron bar and a bolt cutter to break the key lock and forced open the headmaster’s door.
“They used a grinder to open two safes and forced open the bursar’s door and again used a grinder to open the safe.
“The accused persons also broke into three other offices.
“Property stolen is yet to be ascertained.”
Glen Norah 2 High School lost US$1900 when the armed robbers pounced.
