An Entumbane service station garage was raided by armed robbers who got away with US$3,855 on Wednesday night.

According to Bulawayo Province Deputy Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, the incident occurred at around 7.50PM, when four unidentified men driving a Honda Fit approached three fuel attendants who were on duty.

“The accused person pulled out pistols and ordered them to lie down, whilst firing shots in the air,” she said.

They allegedly forced the employees into a room at gunpoint and demanded safe keys, which one of the employees handed over.

“They opened the safe where they took cash amounting to US$3 855 and fled,” Inspector Ndlovu said.

Assistant Inspector Ndlovu confirmed that investigations into the case were underway, urging those in business sectors to avoid keeping large sums of money within their premises by banking cash regularly.

“We appeal to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to come forward or report at any nearest police station,” she said.
