THREE armed robbers pretended to be looking for perfume before pouncing on two people at an Avondale shop and stealing cash and phones worth more than US$6 000.
The robbers attacked Moieez Butt (23) and Kudakwashe Bruce (40) before they drove away in a silver Toyota Aqua.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery case that took place at a shop in Avondale,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The driver of the car used by robbers was reported to have remained in the car while the other two accused persons entered the shop.
“One of the accused persons pretended to be buying perfume.
“The complainant had no change and he proceeded to his office to look for change and the accused followed him up and produced an unidentified pistol and pointed it onto his head.
“Complainant tried to resist, but they both overpowered him and tied his hands and legs.
“The accused searched the drawers of the table and took US$1000.”
Then, another person entered the same shop intending to buy a T-shirt.
“He found no one in the shop and proceeded to enquire from the office where he found the first complainant being robbed and he, too, was manhandled and a pistol was pointed at his forehead.
“He was searched and lost US$350, two cellphones, an iPhone 15 ProMax and a Huawei, with a total value of US$3 050, were taken away.
“One of the accused proceeded to the till and stole US$300 and they both got into their vehicle and drove awayat high speed.”
