FOUR armed robbers pounced at the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) offices in Bluffhill, Harare, and went away with cash and a vehicle belonging to an employee.

Two Real Star security guards were left tied when the robbers, who were wearing face masks, pointed an unidentified pistol at them, ransacked offices and stole US$2 212.

They stole keys of a Nissan X-Trail belonging to one of the employees and drove off.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the vehicle was later recovered at the Kuwadzana roundabout where it had been dumped.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery along Lorraine Drive in Bluffhill,” said Insp Chakanza.

“Both complainants were ordered to remove their shoelaces, which were then used by the accused persons to tie their hands.

“The accused persons used the pick to break the window and burglar bars of the Registry office.

“Three of them then entered the offices and one stayed behind guarding the complainants.

“The accused persons then came out holding a pick, a bunch of keys and a satchel.

“The value of the stolen vehicle is US$14 000 and it was later recovered in good condition in Kuwadzana.

“Cash amounting to US$2 212 was stolen from a safe which was in one of the offices.

“The stolen vehicle was dumped near the Kuwadzana Roundabout,” said Insp Chakanza.
