Armed robbers raid Kwekwe funeral parlour, steal phones, valuables

Midlands Bureau

FIVE armed robbers raided a popular Kwekwe funeral company’s premises and allegedly got away with smartphones and other valuables, police have said.

Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the robbery.

“Property worth US$410 was lost when five men armed with iron bars and axes pounced on a funeral undertaker company in Kwekwe on October 23 at about 1am,” he said.

Insp Mahoko said the five robbers allegedly scaled the precast wall and approached two security guards and three workers who were on duty.

“They started beating them with axe handles and iron bars, demanding to know where the company’s cash was kept,” he said.

Insp Mahoko said they tied the victims’ hands and legs, searched them and took a Huawei Y9 cellphone, a G-Tel Delta cellphone and a Samsung A06 cellphone, all valued at US$410 and ran away.

“We are calling for anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to approach the nearest police station,” he said.
