THREE armed robbers allegedly pounced on a till operator at Nketa Six Garage in Bulawayo and stole $450 cash and $200 worth of airtime recharge cards at gun-point.Magistrate Abednico Ndebele heard this when  Nhlanhla Ngulube, 37, appeared in court facing armed robbery charges.

His two alleged accomplices are on the run. Ngulube, through his lawyer Nonhlanhla Moyo of SKM Sibanda Legal Practitioners alleged that he was severely assaulted by police on his arrest on Sunday and can hardly walk as a result.

Ngulube who was not asked to plead, was remanded in custody to February 4 and advised to apply to the High Court for bail. Prosecuting, Concilia Ncube told how on January 12, Ngulube and his alleged accomplices armed themselves with pistols and proceeded to the garage at about 9PM.

While at the garage, the accused pointed a firearm at the till operator and ordered her to surrender all the cash. It is said Ngulube sold three airtime recharge slips to a witness, who then implicated him during investigations and he (Ngulube) was found in possession of some of the stolen recharge cards.

The court was told that the till operator also positively identified the clothes which Ngulube was wearing on the night of robbery.
