A 38-year-old teacher from Binga will serve 105 hours of community service for attempting to write an O-Level Geography examination paper for a pupil.Koplica Muzamba from Lusulu High School reportedly wrote answers for the pupil last year and tried switching the answer sheet with one belonging to the candidate.
He was charged with fraud when he appeared before Binga magistrate Stephen Ndhlovu on Tuesday. He was sentenced to three months in prison, which were suspended on condition that he does 105 hours of community service at a Kabuba Primary.
The prosecutor, Bruce Maphosa told how on November 14, 2013 Muzamba was invigilating a Geography Paper Two examination at the school.
During the examination process, the court heard, Muzamba wrote answers on one of the answer sheets. After collecting answer sheets from the students at the end of the exam, he reportedly replaced the answer sheets written by the candidate with the one he wrote.
Muzamba then dropped the pupil’s answer sheets in the spoiled paper box and the cheating was discovered by the authorities leading to his arrest.
