THE second edition of the six-day Zimbabwe National Army Inter-Formations Shooting competition got underway at the Wollendale 800M Gallery Range in Matopo yesterday. Seven formations and three army units (Commando, Para and Air Defence) are battling it out for top honours at the tournament aimed at perfecting the soldiers’ shooting skills.
Headquarters One Brigade won the best formation event at the inaugural competition in Masvingo last year. Major Fanuel Muzerengwa of HQ One Brigade said they were looking forward to an exciting competition. “Being defending champions and hosts of the Inter-Formations Shooting competition is the force driving HQ One Brigade towards winning the tournament. Everyone is raring to go,” said Muzerengwa.
Acting commander of 1 Infantry Brigade Colonel Mpulaeng Siziba presided over the official opening, with ZNA commander Lieutenant-General Phillip Valerio Sibanda expected to officiate at the closing ceremony on Friday.
