Arsenal fans vent fury on Ozil

LONDON. — Arsenal fans have lost patience with lazy Mesut Ozil. The Gunners splashed out £42.5 million in September to make Ozil their club-record signing. But after initially shining, Ozil has failed to justify his mega-money price-tag. The last straw came for many Arsenal supporters on Saturday as Ozil went missing against Liverpool.

Stats showed he touched the ball just FOUR times in his own half as he was outworked and out-muscled by Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Henderson.

To now, Arsene Wenger has kept faith with Ozil.
The German (25) has played 20 times this season but his place could now come under threat with the likes of Tomas Rosicky and Serge Gnabry waiting in the wings. Emirates fans vented their frustrations on Twitter after seeing their side torn apart by Liverpool.

He is accused of being “disinterested”, “rubbish” and “a waste of money”.
One disgruntled fan added: “He floated like a butterfly and stung like one too.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal have suffered another body blow with Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski set to quit the club this summer.

The Gunners are reeling after being thrashed 5-1 at Liverpool on Saturday.
But now it has emerged that right-back Sagna and goalkeeper Fabianski – who are out of contract at the end of the season – have turned down new deals.

Seven major clubs, including title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, are keen on signing Sagna on a free – and the France star has told teammates he is off.

Poland international Fabianski, 28, revealed yesterday he no longer wants to play second fiddle to international teammate Wojciech Szczesny at The Emirates.

Fabianski — who has been capped 21 times — said: “I want to be No.1 in the club and in the Polish national team. I have learned a lot at London during very positive and challenging periods.

“With biggest respect to this great club, I didn’t accept the extension offer as I am looking forward to a new challenge in England or abroad.”

Sagna is upset that Arsene Wenger and Arsenal did not approach him sooner about a new deal, leaving talks until his final year at the club — in sharp contrast to their approach to other stars.

Wenger has changed his rule for Sagna having previous only offered a one-year contract to his over 30s.
The deal on the table for Sagna — who is 31 on Friday — is two years, but still at his current salary of £60 000 a week. — The Daily Star.
