through his upcoming 12- track album titled Khoisan.
The album has tracks urging youths to take pride in being African.
The artiste blended hip-hop instrumentals with African vocals.
In an interview, Khoi Khoi said his album was meant to create awareness on the importance of valuing culture and tradition.
“The reason why I fused hip-hop and African vocals was to make the music appeal to both the young and the old.
“The major platform for communicating with youths is via entertainment, hence the use of music,” he said.
Tracks to feature on the album include The Khoisan, a song well versed in African history dating back to the days Ndebele and Rozvi kings built empires symbolising African tradition and culture.
Lengoma is a song set to take many down memory lane as it is on African struggles.
The artiste said Nketa-based producer Mjokes linked him with many established artistes who helped him gain exposure. This prompted him to compose music set to tackle everyday societal issues.
Khoi Khoi also praised local artistes who strive to revive African culture and tradition, among them songstress and dance queen, Sandra Ndebele.
“Sandra Ndebele’s outfit resembles that of a true African Queen and she takes pride in what she does as an African dancer. I also have respect for the Cool Crooners because they have defied all odds by staying true to their roots,” he said.
Khoi Khoi said local arts was in a transitional phase and it was important for youths to have a strong cultural background.
“The arts industry has become so diverse and many people are adopting various kinds of cultures.
“It is important for the new generation to know where we came from as Africans and there is a need to emulate what our forefathers,” he said.
The artiste bemoaned moral decadence.
“Western cultures are promoting social ills,” he said.
The artiste said he respected local hip-hop artiste POY for motivating many up-coming musicians.
Khoi Khoi was last year nominated for Bulawayo Has Got Talent and Amakhosi’s Dreams To Fame finals.
The artiste has also staged shows alongside many local groups among them Umkhathi Theatre, Ibumba Arts, Simunye Simunye and Intombi Zomqangala.
