All roads lead to Gwanzura Stadium in Highfield today for a bash to celebrate President Mugabe’s 90th birthday. Different artistes are expected to grace the event which is scheduled to start in the afternoon and run until tomorrow.
Award-winning musician Jah Prayzah, Alick Macheso, Sulumani Chimbetu, Tryson Chimbetu, DouglasChimbetu, Allan Chimbetu, Seh Calaz, Shinsoman, Killer T,Mathias Mhere, The Charambas, Romeo Gasa and many more artistes will take turns to entertain the crowd.
One of the event coordinators Emmanuel Juta said all is set for the day and is encouraging the youths to come in their numbers.
“We have all the ground work all artistes have confirmed their participation on this special day and we are starting in the afternoon. We are encouraging people from all walks of life to come and celebrate together with our president on his 90th birthday,” he said.
Juta said Gwanzura was the ideal place and the gala.
“We chose Gwanzura Stadium because Highfield is an important historical place since it is where most of political activities to liberate the country started.
“We want to show the President that as the youths of this nation we love him and are grateful for his contribution to our lives,” he said. The event is likely to be memorable as artistes take turns to prove themselves on the stage.
With some big names preparing to release new albums in April the event is likely to work as a teaser for upcoming material.
The event will give a platform for some artistes like Macheso and his former band members Extra Kwazvose to express some statements about their relationship to their fans.
