HARARE giants Dynamos will continue with their preparations with a friendly match against Buffaloes in Mutare tomorrow hoping to boost their fitness levels ahead of the Champions League first round tie against AS Vita of the Democratic Republic of Congo next week.
DeMbare, who were planning with the pre-season Bob@90 Super Cup final in mind, had to make contingency plans to keep their players in shape following the postponement of the final.
They will be on the road tomorrow for the warm-up game.
Callisto Pasuwa and his men were back in full training yesterday and the technical team reckons they need more game time following last weekend’s sluggish second half showing in the 1-1 draw at Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Botswana.
The Bob@90 Super Cup final against bitter rivals Highlanders that had been slated for Sunday could have been a perfect platform for the Glamour Boys to prepare for their next African assignment.
Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro yesterday said they were hoping to get rewards from the warm-up game against Buffaloes, who are now being coached by Luke Masomere.
“Obviously, it’s a good opportunity to look at our players once again and also to work on our game.
“We are hopeful that this friendly match will be of great benefit because Buffaloes are a good team,” said Chihoro.
Dynamos negotiated the preliminary round hurdle with a 4-1 win over Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
The Harare giants, though, need to work on some aspects of their game, especially the finishing, and polish up their combinations as they have new players who need to adapt to their system of play.
Dynamos have since introduced some of their new signings to the continental competition with Ronald Chitiyo and Masimba Mambare getting the starting places in both matches against Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Chihoro yesterday said they were happy with a clean bill of health in their camp and will give most of their players some game time.
“We are happy that we don’t have any injuries in our team. Everyone is fit and we hope the situation remains like that,” said Chihoro.
Dynamos are not sure which day they are playing as their match will fall in the same weekend with the Mighty Warriors’ qualifier for the Africa Women Championship against Botswana.
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said DeMbare and Caf Confederation Cup representatives How Mine will play their first leg matches on Saturday March 1 while the women’s clash has been pencilled in for the following day.
The Mighty Warriors engage Botswana at Rufaro in the second leg of the African Women Championship qualifiers, carrying a 1-0 victory from their first leg victory in Gaborone last week.
How Mine, who made a flying start in their maiden Confederation Cup campaign with a 6-1 thrashing of Zanzibar side FC Chuoni, have a date against ASSM Elgeco Plus of Madagascar at Barbourfields.
