BULAWAYO artistes are upbeat ahead of their show today at White City Stadium, saying they are going all out to impress music lovers who will come to the event and the rest of Zimbabwe watching it on ZBCtv.
Over 50 artistes will be part of the show dubbed: “We Honour Our Heroes” with the #FillUpWhiteCity hash tag.
Afro Jazz crooner Jeys Marabini, who fronts Kuzekulunge, said the show was an early Christmas present for the city.
“We chose White City stadium because it’s convenient and near the people. The show is also an early Christmas present for our fans and we’re buoyed by the fact that the show will be broadcast live and the whole of Zimbabwe will see Bulawayo’s immense talent,” said Marabini.
Rhumba musician Clement Magwaza of the Kokotsha Makokotsha fame promised nothing but the best.
“My band and I will be at our usual best and we’ll be dishing out hits from my previous album and songs from my latest offering Stambo Sami,” said Magwaza.
Rapper Guluva 7 said the show was a great initiative which would afford young artistes an opportunity to showcase their talent.
“The show is a platform to honour the greats that paved way for us and turned Bulawayo into the art hub that it is today. Another plus is that the show will be aired live on TV. This will create a broader market for music from Bulawayo.
“We urge the Bulawayo community to come in their numbers and pack the stadium,” said Guluva 7.
Tickets, according to organisers, are steadily being bought with a quarter of the 8 000 released already sold.
Each artiste is selling tickets which have been pegged at $2.
