Artistes speak on charity match

 

yesteryear stars in the form of John Phiri, Agent Sawu, Brenna Msiska, Gift Muzadzi, Angirai Chapo, Alois Bunjira, Willard Khumalo, Callisto Pasuwa, Norman Mapeza, George Rollo, Collins Kabote and Rahman Gumbo.

Interestingly, musicians have brushed off the otherwise legends’ star-studded line-up and have promised to give them a hard time on the pitch.

Contemporary crooner Jah Prayzah said the musicians’ team will upset the football legends.
“I prefer the left wing because I am left-footed and we are going to score many goals. Fans should expect a goal harvest,” he said.

Sexy dancer Beverly “Bev” Sibanda, who is expected to be the medic on the day, said it will be business off the stage.

“I am going to give it my all. I will attend to the injured and hopefully we will have a favourable result,” she said.

Bev, however, confessed that she is good at playing with the “bottle” than the ball.
Sniper Storm, who will be playing at the back, said it will take skills from yesteryear soccer greats to dribble past him.

“The ‘General’ will be defending and they will not score against us. We are taking this game seriously, that is why we have find time from our busy schedules and be part of the charity match,” he said.

Speaking through his manager, First Farai, who is tasked to score the goals, said he was going to score more goals this time around.

Farai’s manager, Shepherd Kapanga, said: “First is practising and he wants to score goals.”
This year the musicians’ side will also feature youthful stars such as Winky D, Freeman, King Shaddy and Guspy Warrior, who are doing great in dancehall circles.

Although they compete musically, this time they will be required to pass the ball and combine their efforts against the soccer legends.

As is always the case with Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima, the actor-cum-musician will bring the drama on the field of play with his antics.

Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, the organiser of the annual charity match, said: “We have organised the match with the aim of raising money to buy Tedius Matsito an artificial leg and the other proceeds will go towards junior football teams.

“We would like to urge fans to come and support the event,” said Chipaz.
It will be entertainment galore on January 26 at Rufaro Stadium with performances by some of the artistes taking part in the match at the after-party.
