Celebration and appreciation of the Great Zimbabwe monuments, quality music and mental wellness will come to the fore at this year’s Lake October Music Festival.
Powered by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) among other stakeholders, the main celebrations will be held at the Caravan Park this weekend.

Festival goers will be treated to good music, food, a marathon, and aerobics at the cultural fete.

Music will dominate the two-day event with Zim dancehall star Freeman, Chillspot Family led by DJ Fantan and Trevor Dongo being the main acts on Friday.

Phenomenal songbird Nisha Ts has been rewarded for her consistency with a slot at the event.

MC Black Pepper, DJ Nospa from Bulawayo, and Elder Kauleza are also part of the line-up. On Saturday, Winky D and Gemma Griffiths will perform on the closing night of the festival.

Afro-fusion star Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora returns to this year’s line-up on merit. Hype-man Elder Kauleza, Mr Candy and DJ Crazy Dee are also part of the bill.

Event coordinator, Tapiwa “DJ Mestro” Godi, said the event was meant to celebrate the beauty of Masvingo as a tourism destination of choice.

“It is not only going to be about music but a total celebration of what Masvingo can offer in terms of tourism and hospitality,” said DJ Maestro.

“We also have several activities line-up like marathon, golf, and soccer tournaments line-up for the event.

“These activities are meant to promote Masvingo which has the potential as a tourism hub in Zimbabwe.”

The event coordinator said they were impressed by the feedback they were receiving during the build-up to the show.

“People from Masvingo cannot wait for this year’s event, now in its fourth edition. It is quite encouraging that locals now value some of the initiatives we are doing to promote our city.

“Fans from other parts of the country are now calling on us to make inquiries, which is quite commendable.”

The ancient city of Masvingo is known for its hospitality, which has seen it attracting hordes of local and international tourists.
