DESPITE some indifferent form, Sakubva-bred goalkeeper Washington Arubi remains upbeat that his South African Premiership team Marumo Gallants can still strike the right chord and turn their season around.
The struggling side are winless in their last five league games, drawing three and losing two.
This has left them second from bottom on the 16-team table.
Arubi has kept goals in all those matches.
To their credit, however, last season’s Nedbank Cup champions have held the more experienced and fancied pair of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to goalless stalemates at home during the period under review.
They lost to lowly Golden Arrows (3-1) and Maritzburg United (1-0), however.
Speaking to Post Sport from his South African base, the former Soccer Star of the Year winner said they have what it takes to survive the chop.
“We have not been at our best so far this season and we are working hard on improving that. With only six games into the campaign, it is too early to talk about relegation because we are going to fight with everything we have to avoid the chop. We believe that we can make it,” said the seasoned Warriors shotstopper.
The Mutare-born ex-Dynamos goalie is looking forward to picking maximum points against Sekhukhune United in their mid-week fixture.
