Arubi’s Gallants know their fate

WASHINGTON ARUBI’S Marumo Gallants are the only team representing South Africa in the CAF Confederation Cup, and they now know their group stage opponents.

Dan Malesela’s men have been pitted in Group A alongside Saint Eloi Lupopo, USM Alger and Al Akhder who are all very tough opponents.

Gallants started this season’s CAF Confederation Cup journey with Royal AM but they crashed out before Cape Town City joined and exited in the play-off round.

This is Gallants’ second successive season in the CAF Confederation Cup, and they will hope to come out of the group and qualify for the quarter-finals.

The top two teams after six rounds of matches will advance while the bottom two from the group will not take part in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Defending champions RSB Berkane of Morocco are the notable absentees in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup group stage draw after failing to get to this stage.
