from the number of memorial shows that they are holding for him around the country, several weeks after his death.
His son, Peter, and the Utakataka Express have suddenly found themselves fully booked at different venues around the country including the one at Sports Diner International last week, which was sold-out.
Hot on the heels of this show is the one at City Sports Bar in Harare to be held tonight due to public demand.
“He (Peter) should have come and performed here around the time that his father passed away.
“Ever since, we discovered that he has been fully booked on Fridays and other days and we had no other option but to bring him on a Thursday because people have always been requesting for his
performance here,” said Biggie Chinoperekwei, the owner of the joint.
He also said that he hoped to maintain the good working relationship with Peter, which he had with the late “Muchina Muhombe”.
“We want maintain the same relationship with Peter because his father was one of the artistes we worked with well,” he said.
Ever since the memorial of his father, Peter has managed to impress the crowd with his energy and zeal.
So determined is he to fill his father’s shoes that he has been improving with each outing.
His show at the Sports Diner last week has been described as one of his best acts to date that it earned him the title “Young Igwe”.
Peter is easily joining the ranks of the likes of Suluman Chimbetu who have managed to fill the void created by the death of their fathers.
