ASPHALT Products will celebrate three decades of existence with a corporate social soccer tournament set for Busters in Bulawayo on Saturday.

The event, which forms part of the company’s 30th anniversary celebrations, will feature four Bulawayo-rooted companies namely Davis Granite, MASCA, Amacon Civils and hosts Asphalt Products.

According to Acting Sales and Marketing Manager Engineer Cathrine Mkandhla, the tournament is not only meant to celebrate the company’s milestone but also promote employee wellness through sport and physical activity.

“Asphalt Products is a wholly-owned indigenous Zimbabwean company established in 1996 and this year marks our 30th anniversary,” said Mkandhla.

“As part of our celebrations, we will be launching a social soccer team and hosting a soccer tournament at Busters. The aim is to promote employee health through physical activity while also strengthening relationships among companies with roots in Bulawayo.”

Mkandhla said the participating teams will be made up of employees from the respective companies, creating an opportunity for workers to interact away from the workplace in a relaxed and competitive environment.

Corporate sporting events have increasingly become important platforms for employee wellness, team building and networking, with many companies now embracing sport as a tool for improving morale and workplace cohesion.

Saturday’s tournament is expected to provide a family-friendly atmosphere filled with entertainment, camaraderie and healthy competition as the four companies battle for bragging rights.

For Asphalt Products, the occasion also represents a celebration of growth and resilience after three decades in business.

The company was incorporated on May 20, 1996 and has grown into one of the indigenous firms contributing to infrastructure development in Zimbabwe.
