HERBERT Maruwa is SAFE, at least for now.
He has received the backing of the club chairman, Moses Maunganidze, despite calls from a section of Dynamos fans for the gaffer to be sacked.
The Glamour Boys are winless in their last four league matches, with two draws and a loss, in their last three league matches.
They were also beaten in the Independence Cup final by Highlanders.
On Sunday, after a shock defeat at the hands of Bulawayo Chiefs, some DeMbare fans demanded the sacking of the coach.
However, the club boss said the coach will stay.
“Nothing has changed, we understand there are frustrations everywhere but we are very patient with our coach,” said Maunganidze.
“We believe in his capacity to get the team out of this phase.
“We are hearing what people are saying regarding what is happening at the club but we are still putting our trust in our technical team.
“It’s just a phase and it will come to pass very soon, I’m appealing to fans to be patient.”
Maruwa and his backroom staff left the National Sports Stadium at around 8pm on Sunday.
Scores of disgruntled fans tried to wait and confront Maruwa but they were made to address their grievances elsewhere after the intervention of the police.
Skipper Frank Makatati was also in attendance at this lengthy meeting, but he was released at 7:30pm.
Maruwa was seen by H-Metro continuously condemning his defence, particularly ‘keeper Taimon Mvula, for staying on his line, when crosses were being whipped in.
Some were in his corner blaming the defenders.
DeMbare lost 2-3 against a battling Bulawayo Chiefs.
Maruwa saw his team conceding a hat-trick of headers and a sizable section of the fans were already asking for his head.
The fans feel the team has regressed under the supervision of the man who failed to save Harare City from relegation last season.
Dynamos meet CAPS United in the Harare Derby on Sunday.
