Athletics boss re-elected unopposed

MANUEL Mpofu was re-elected unopposed as the chairperson of the Bulawayo Athletics Board (BAB) at an elective Annual General Meeting held at YWCA yesterday.

The BAB’s board members consisting of ZRP Fairbridge, Northlea Athletics Club, Turnall Athletics Club, National Association of Primary Heads, National Association of Secondary Heads, Ihlosi Athletics Club and the National University on Science and Technology gave Mpofu another four-year term in office.

As Mpofu was re-elected, Tivawone Gava also retained his post as vice-chairperson with Rebecca Ncube coming in as secretary.

Caron Thashamba got the role of vice-secretary.

The board also elected Elicah Ngorima as treasurer, Eusebia Ncube as women’s representative and the committee members consist of Watson Madenyika, Benson Mwanza, Patsoni Shito as well as Cephas Ndlovu.

The gathering started with a pre-AGM meeting in which the chairman outlined various scopes experienced in 2016. These included Development Programmes, Competitions, International courses, Visit by Arnold Payne and Darryl Anderson, challenges faced by the board as well as achievements.
