Attitude builds personality

With age comes maturity and maturity responsibility while attitude brings about personality. Growing up is not only about age, it is about maturity and how we handle and tackle things that come our way. Our attitude builds us depending on how the outcome is and can work in our favour or against.

Where does bad character come from and how do people determine it is bad?

It is in the attitude that creates behaviour. Character is a set of qualities an individual carries with them that is different from everyone else. Your character defines who you are among others.

How you portray yourself among others is exactly how they will treat you.
If you prove that you are a stern person, a person of your word then people around you will treat you with respect. Your attitude and how you act should team up with what you say as well.

Answering back rudely, banging doors, walking away when someone is talking to you especially older people really is not a good attitude. Take a look at all those around you, those who are admired and praised. Are they being praised for the wrong attitude?

All those who have made it “big” have character that is admired by many. Mentors are there to help and guide us towards having the best characters and attitudes.

How we dress (present ourselves) makes our personality.
“How we talk and laugh constitute our character. If we lie a lot or joke around too much then the day we do tell the truth no one will believe let alone listen. What then do people say you are if you do this? I for one know it is either they call you a liar or will forever take you as a joke,” said Tatenda from Chisipite.

This is then your character or personality derived from your attitude.
As Cristina Guevra-Mena’s “The Boy who Cried Wolf” if you have a bad character, no one wants to associate with you, they leave you.
The problem with a bad attitude is that once someone notices it, they not only tell people but it is visible in the individual. Like they say, “bad news travels faster than the good”.

The boy who cried wolf did so more than once and the villagers ran to kill the wolf but could not find one. When a wolf did approach the village and he cried “wolf” no one bothered.

How does it feel when you finally want people to take you seriously and they do not due to your previous actions? It clearly shows that what you did in the past can actually catch up, good or bad. If it is bad, it is not a good picture that is for sure.

In the Bible Luke 6 verse 31 states, “Do unto others what you want them to do unto you.” Do good deeds and one day they will be returned. When you have a good personality, people want to be around you more often.

As we grow up, we are expected to change our attitudes for the better. We are prepared for life challenges and its surprises. Our attitudes towards whatever life throws at us are how we will handle most similar situations later on.

Keeping calm, cool, neat and stern at the same time are quite an impressive attitude. Being meek does not mean being weak or vulnerable. If Jesus was weak, he would not have turned the money changers’ tables in the temple, but he was meek meaning he was stern but compassionate. He had a great personality thus people enjoyed being around him.

An attitude is alike temper, it can be controlled. If you are warned about where your attitude could lead you, it obviously means it can change if you are willing. No one will tell you avoid hanging around certain people unless they knew they were the wrong crowd. When you are told to stop something, it is for your own good.

“We all want the good things but we go about it the wrong way. Take some time to write down the positive and negative things you have done in this year so far and write down your goals making sure you follow up on your progress. This way you know what you want, put away the baggage you do not want,” explained 17-year-old Ruvimbo Moyo.
