BULAWAYO’S creative scene is set for another injection of fresh talent as the fourth edition of August Baby Fest returns next month, promising to give emerging artistes a platform to shine and connect with wider audiences.

The annual festival to celebrate young artistes, born out of musician Kiid Angel’s passion for nurturing local talent, has steadily grown into one of the city’s grassroots entertainment showcases, creating opportunities for upcoming musicians, dancers, poets and other creatives to showcase their abilities.

This year’s edition, which will be hosted by Kiid Angel in partnership with Thriller Entertainment Company and DJ Offswag, will feature Fidel Country Boi, the artiste behind the hit song Tangai Bhawa, as the headline act.

Speaking ahead of the event, Kiid Angel said August Baby Fest was created to bridge the gap between talented local performers and the opportunities they need to grow their careers.

“The event is dedicated to empowering Bulawayo’s local talent by giving musicians, performers, dancers, poets and other creatives a professional platform to showcase their abilities before fans, industry professionals and potential sponsors. We believe local talent should not have to wait for the ‘big stage’ to be discovered — we should celebrate and support them while they are building their journeys,” he said.

Beyond the performances, the festival aims to foster networking, exposure and collaboration within Bulawayo’s creative sector. The entertainment line-up will also include DJ CP, while celebrated pencil artist Picasso Leon will be among the event’s MCs, adding an artistic touch to the celebrations.

Kiid Angel said each edition has strengthened the festival’s mission of uplifting local creatives and contributing to the growth of Bulawayo’s arts industry.

“August Baby Fest has grown year after year, and my vision has always been to build an event that genuinely uplifts emerging talent and contributes to the growth of Bulawayo’s creative industry. We hope this year’s edition will inspire even more young people to pursue their dreams and remind the community of the importance of supporting local artistes.”
