CHICKEN Inn new find Clive “Kusazoshuba” Augusto announced his presence with a brace that saw the Gamecocks start their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign on a fine note with victory over 10-man ZPC Kariba at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

ZPC Kariba finished the match with 10 players on the field of play when veteran defender Ian Nekati was sent off for crude tackle on Augusto on the halfway line Nekati became the first player to be sent off in the 2019 PSL season.

Augusto, one of the nine Chicken Inn’s new nine signings, found the opener in the 22nd minute from a rejuvenated Guide Goddard feed that caught the Kariba defence wanting. As if that was not enough, the forceful Augusto again registered his name on the score sheet in the 62nd minute when after being fed by the impressive Sipho Ndlovu he let loose a shot that reduced a diving Tendai Hove, in goals for ZPC Kariba, clutching thin air.

Not to be outdone was former Highlanders midfielder Simon “Yola” Munawa, whose long range trademark got goal number three for the 2015 champions with six minutes to go from a recovered Bret Amidu build-up.

The visitors scored through former Bosso midfielder Nigel Makumbe two minutes before the end of time.

“It’s all about team rebuilding and we are happy about a win. We have assembled a whole new squad but we are not finished. We are happy we have won this match,” said Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas.

His opposite number, Godfrey Tamirepi said: “We all looked fine but we lost. I think the referee was not on our side.”
