AUSTRALIA based crooner, Cozzy Kozile, says ExQ and Shinsoman’s music is popular overseas.
The singer, who has settled in well in Perth for over a decade, hosted the Zimbabwean contingent during their current tour of the country.
Charmed by the duo’s musical appeal, during their show in Perth held on Easter Saturday at the Sewing Room, Cozzy believes Zimbabwean music has penetrated the international scene.
“Zim music has not only attracted the Zimbabwean community but also our neighbouring countries.
“We had an amazing turn out from the Zambian community, Botswana community, Southern African community, and they are all familiar with ExQ and Shinsoman songs.
“Some of the fans have been singing along to my songs at my events,” he said.
Cozzy said sharing the stage with the Zimbabwean duo, who were accompanied by DJ Tamuka, will remain one of his best experiences.
“It was amazing considering the fact that I already had a friendship relationship with both ExQ and Shinsoman.
“These guys are very friendly and down-to-earth, people from Perth have been constantly attending events here.
“People in Perth can sing along to most of my songs as well here, which made it easier for me to warm the stage for Shinso and ExQ,” he said.
Cozzy, a former soccer player, who traded his football boots with Division One teams for the microphone, believes Zimbabwean artists are on demand in Australia.
“This was probably the best international tour I have ever performed in since I started music four year ago.
“The numbers don’t lie to be honest, it was a full house,” he said.
Cozzy, who grew up with Peter Moyo in Kwekwe, launched his professional career four years ago.
He records with both Zimbabwean and Australian producers.
