Axed Mavhunga pens emotional letter

Curtworth Masango

TREVOR Mavhunga has bid farewell in an emotional letter to the Dynamos family after the club announced that his contract, which expired on New Year’s Eve, would not be renewed.

It’s not yet clear where the midfielder is likely to settle.

Mavhunga joined Dynamos from Triangle United in 2020, and expressed joy at being part of the Glamour Boys.

“Today is a sad day for me,” said Mavhunga.

“Just yesterday I never thought I would be saying goodbye to my Dynamos family. I can’t express in words how I am feeling. All I can say is that I have been happy and proud to be part of the Dynamos family for the past two years.

“I know all good things come to an end and that nothing lasts forever, but I would have wanted to stay with the club until the end of my career.

“This is more of a see you later than it is a goodbye. As a young boy growing up in Braeside, I dreamt of playing football in the Premier Soccer League,” he said.

“Though I loved Dynamos, I never for a moment thought I would ever be considered to play for them and when they asked me to join them, I cried the whole night. I could not believe it. I was truly happy.

“I remember scoring a goal in my debut during the Independence Day Cup in 2020. I was on cloud nine. I have enjoyed my time with the club,” he said.

He indicated that his highest point was playing at the National Sports Stadium in front of Dynamos supporters and the euphoria that followed when the team scored.

“I have truly had some of my best days at Dynamos and I am sad to leave. I look forward to my next challenge and promise to give 100 percent in the next chapter of my life. God Bless you all,” he said.

Mavhunga was among the 13 players Dynamos shipped out as excess to requirements of the new technical team led by coach Herbert Maruwa.
