AXED Mighty Warriors coach Shadreck Mlauzi a a Physical Education teacher a is concentrating on his teaching profession at Sikhulile High School while eagerly waiting for a deal with Premier Soccer League club Tsholotsho FC to materialise.
The history making coach who guided the senior womenas national team to the 2016 Rio Olympics was shown the door in dramatic fashion by Zifa at the recommendation of the High Performance Committee (HPC).
It did not take long for Tsholotsho FC to ask the coach to try his luck at the club for the position of assistant coach.
The two parties are, however, still to reach an agreement.
When B-Metro Sport spoke to Mlauzi on Wednesday afternoon he had just wrapped up a Physical Education lesson with a Form Three class and was rushing to an Iziqholo zeZhwane training session at White City Stadium.
a?I teach five classes in total, four Form Three and one Lower Six, itas a hectic schedule considering that we are implementing the new curriculum but Iam copying well.
a?I work with the Tsholotsho FC team after school lessons. We agreed in principle to work together but Iam yet to sign a contract,a? said Mlauzi.
Asked on the decision by Zifa to fire him after achieving set targets to qualify for two major tournaments a the Olympics and the African Women Cup of Nations a the coach said he only got to know about his fate in the media.
a?Nothing official has been communicated by Zifa, I only read the reports in the newspapers. For now Iam concentrating on my teaching job and coaching sessions at Tsholotsho FC,a? he said.
B-Metro Sport has it in good authority that Mlauzi worked with the Mighty Warriors without a contract from Zifa unlike his counterpart Kalisto Pasuwa who signed a two-year contract in 2016.
Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said contracts for national team coaches are dealt with by the Zifa board but would not say if Mlauzi signed a contract or not.
