AMBITIOUS Tanzanian Premiership side Azam has improved its offer for the signature of Highlanders’ utility player Bruce Kangwa ahead of the Vodacom League kick-off on August 20. Kangwa’s manager George Deda said the Tanzanians had added $5,000 to the initial $25,000 offer they made to the Bulawayo giants for Kangwa’s signature. Bosso initially priced Kangwa at $50,000, but are believed to have climbed down to $40,000. However, the Tanzanians believe this is still too high for a player whose contract ends in December.

“I’m happy to say that we seem to be reaching an agreement. We’re getting somewhere in our negotiations. I hope both parties see the urgency in concluding these talks because the Tanzanian window will be closing soon, something which will heavily prejudice the player,” said Deda.

The player is also believed to be keen on joining the Tanzanians as the deal is lucrative to him. His signing on fees has been pegged at $20,000 plus a monthly salary of $5,000 and a winning bonus of $500.

“I’m hoping he plays a farewell game for Highlanders before he leaves. It’s only proper that way, but we need to grind out an agreement,” said Deda. Highlanders, drowning in debt, need to avoid a similar situation that saw Milton Ncube and Peter Moyo leaving as free agents two months after the club had turned down a $60,000 offer from AmaZulu. — @skhumoyo2000
