A week after Scottland FC owner Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya declared that they are going to emphatically beat Highlanders in a highly anticipated Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Barbourfields on Sunday, Bosso coach Kelvin Kaindu was short of saying it was a “mere pipe dream.”
Sakupwanya said Scottland would win 4-0 and, yesterday, Kaindu said football matches’ results are determined on the pitch.
“I don’t know, I have been hearing about it, it’s difficult for me to comment. For us we respect all our opponents, and we always feel football is played on the field and it’s always good to talk after the game.
“If they feel, they are going to beat us 4-0, which is their own feeling. It is what they think they will do, or they are capable of doing,” said Kaindu.
Free spending Scottland are in their country’s elite football debut season and they have already attracted a lot of interest courtesy of their professional approach to the game that saw them manage to attract high profile local players that include Khama Billiat, Walter Musona, Godkowns Murwira, ex Bosso players Peter Muduhwa, Lynoth Chikuhwa, Godfrey Makaruse and Marvelous Chigumira among others.
“Every game, honestly, is big for us. Of course Scottland comes with a lot of things, looking at that this is their first season in the Premier league and they have come with so much impact. If you look at the teams that have been promoted, I think they are the team that is quietly above all other clubs. It’s football and I think it’s not going to be an easy game. Football is played on the field and the best team will get the result,” said Kaindu.
Kaindu believes their former players, who are in the Scottland FC camp, will come with a lot of emotions on Sunday.
The quartet of Peter Muduhwa, Lynoth Chikuhwa, Godfrey Makaruse and Marvelous moved from Bosso to Scottland as free agents at the beginning of the year.
Muduhwa and Chikuhwa are the only two players that have managed to get game time at their new baser amid romours that Scottland FC are contemplating to loan Makaruse and Chigumira to other clubs.
Muduhwa and Chikuhwa will be back where it began lining up with against their old side Highlanders in a high-profile Matchday Four against the Mabvuku side.
It is a day that fans will also reminisce about Muduhwa and Chikuhwa Bosso legacy.
Last season, Muduhwa, who spent several years fighting for the Bosso badge was the club’s vice-captain and Chikuhwa scooped the PSL Boot Award with 17 goals under his belt.
True to Kaindu’s words, emotions and legacy will certainly collide at Emagumeni.
“We have got our own players who have been with the club for quite some time. I think some of them will come back with certain emotions. They are very much experienced, and our fans still love them,” said Kaindu.
