BULAWAYO Athletics Board chairman Manuel Mpofu says they will assist the National Association of Primary School Heads (Naph) and National Association of Secondary School Heads (Nash) with their competitions as the two were a good base for BAB.
Naph will hold their provincial athletics and physical education (PE) competitions on Monday and Tuesday at White City Stadium featuring five districts Mzilikazi, Reigate, Khami, Imbizo and Bulawayo Central.
Nash’s events have been lined up for March 3-4 at White City Stadium pitting the same districts.
Naph Bulawayo Metropolitan province chairperson Bongani Sibanda said their track and field event is being sponsored by Nestle and will be contested by three age groups, Under-12s, Under-13s and Under-14s.
He said his committee would hold a technical meeting tomorrow at White City Stadium to finalise preparations.
“We will start by holding a technical meeting on Friday (tomorrow) at the venue to clear a few issues, but we are mostly done.
“I urge all parents to come and support for their kids because school is not only about academics, but physical education as well,” said Sibanda.
“I urge all districts to finalise their teams before Friday so that pupils are not unnecessarily put under pressure on competition days.”
