MUSIC guru, Baba Machanic Manyeruke, has raised concern over the behaviour of young artists in the industry.
The veteran singer is one of the pioneers of gospel music in Zimbabwe.
He believes he has matured with age, just like wine, to enable him to share advice with the younger generation of artists.
He told H-Metro that young artists should check their records, do some self-introspection and change their ways.
“It is always my advice to upcoming young artists that dignity is what defines a person.
“It’s so unfortunate that the modern generation has eroded our morals and values.
“People should always be guided by norms, morals and values,” he said.
The Nyika Ino Yakanaka hit-maker also advised youths to shun drugs.
“The future is in the young generation’s hands.
“They are the leaders of tomorrow, hence they should be responsible in each and every aspect of their lives.
“We are now losing our children at a very tender age because of drugs.
“Youths have normalised the consumption of drugs.
“Seriously how can we expect artists to be peaceful, reputable and dignified, if they abuse drugs.
“Munhu ingomira panzvimbo imwe, focus on important goals in life and always note that in life, respect is earned,” said Manyeruke.
He also advised artists to be humble.
“If one minds his own career, business and goals in life then self-determination is achieved.
“If we all humble ourselves and consider the happiness, and peace of the next person, then cyber bullying and violence will be no more.
“I repeat myself, vechidiki ngavazvidzore mukutaura nemukuita kwavo,” he said.
