THE Edgars-Bulawayo Amateur Football Association (Bafa) will today hold its awards ceremony at Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) and the guest of honour is acting Zifa president Omega Sibanda.

Bafa chairman Chris Mutungwazi said the season was a success with all their games fulfilled on time.

“The year is finally over and we hope that bigger teams managed to scout for talent they can use. We’re pleased with the level of performance and expect improvement next year.

The aim is to see some of the players graduate to join big teams,” said Mutungwazi.

At the ceremony, the league will honour the Top Goal Scorer of the Year, Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Most Consistent Team and Most Disciplined Team.

Joseph Wilson of Golden Hotspurs is set to take the Golden Boot Award after netting 23 goals Crusaders’ Noel Ncube was second with 20 goals.

While the Top Goal Scorer will go unchallenged, other awards will have an element of surprise.

Two players, Ncube and Charles Phiri of Rebels FC are vying for the overall Player of the Year award.

Ashwing Msazulwa of Bulawayo Tigers and Anele Maphosa of Mpilo United will battle for the Goalkeeper of the Year accolade.
