Bafta Awards: A blow for Cowell

Got Talent has been nominated twice for the previous five series.
Instead the gong for Best Entertainment Show will be fought out between Harry Hill’s TV Burp, Derren Brown: The Experiments, Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Comedy Roadshow and ITV2’s Celebrity Juice.
A source said: “This is a very big blow for Simon.
“The Baftas are the most prestigious awards in Britain and Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor are two of the biggest shows on telly.
“It’s also a blow for the new panel.
“If they’re not going to win awards, they need to start winning ratings wars. Immediately.”
Screen veteran Dame Maggie Smith — who has already picked up five Baftas over her career — is up for the Supporting Actress title for her role as the acerbic Dowager Countess in Downton Abbey, alongside Anna Chancellor for The Hour and Miranda Hart for Call The Midwife.
The Choir: Military Wives is the hot favourite to take the Factual Series award.
The BBC Two surprise hit is up against Educating Essex, Our War and Protecting Our Children: Damned If We Do Damned If We Don’t.
DANNII Minogue’s ex Kris Smith is finding his split from the Aussie star tough.
The sports-star-turned-male model told Australian breakfast show The Circle: “It’s a struggle, but you know we’re the best of friends and we have a massive mutual respect for one another.”
Kris split with former X Factor judge Dannii earlier this month. — The Sun.
