Macheso returns to PamuzindaLovemore Meya

venue has almost become his second home after the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.
The sungura giant’s performance is to prepare revellers for the much-hyped show to be held at Harare International Festival of the Arts’ Telecel Main Stage — an afternoon concert scheduled for Saturday May 5, 2012 presented by Coca-Cola.
The “Madawu” hitmaker, who was crowned the best performer at this year’s Bob@88 Gala held in Chipinge, will be supported by the Muddy Face.
Macheso’s music transcends societal boundaries as his famous “Zora Butter” dance has become popular at churches, parties and most notably football matches.
Today, he will prove his worth when he shares the stage with vibrant Shame “Chibage” Mashonganyika, the interim leader of the Muddy Face.
Ochestra Mberikwazvo assistant manager Jethro Machanja, who recently applauded “Chibage” for his active part as a band vocalist from the previous position of backing the late band leader Cephas Mashakada, who died last year, said this was yet another opportunity for “Razor Wire” to support other artistes and bands.
“The show is meant to propel the sounds of Muddy Face to the dizzy heights they once reached with the late Mashakada,” he said.
He adds: “Revellers should also look forward to sampling songs from our forthcoming album and the best tunes from our previous projects,” said Machanja.
Lately, Macheso has been performing with a host of up and coming musicians including Munyaradzi Mataruse during the Independence Eve Concert held at Jazz 105 in Harare.
Macheso has also held shows with Tryson Chimbetu and Peter Moyo.
Meanwhile, Winky D — born Wallace Chirimuko — will make a welcome return to Hifa after a scintillating show last year.
Winky D will be playing alongside award-winning gospel artiste Blessing Shumba, who is expected to perform on day three of the festival.
