IAN BAKALA is proving to be a man for the big occasion.
The Zambian coach claimed yet another big scalp at the weekend as CAPS United edged FC Platinum 1-0 at Mandava on Saturday.
It could prove to be a massive three points for the Green Machine who found themselves sucked into relegation trouble during the previous round of matches after a 1-2 loss to Yadah.
Bakala has now floored Highlanders, Scottland, Manica Diamonds, Chicken Inn and FC Platinum in his first 16 games in charge of the Green Machine.
Midfielder Tanaka Shandirwa returned to the first team fold and played a key role in this win.
“It was a good result for the team because we needed this win to ease the pressure on ourselves and our fans,” he said.
“We are not far from the relegation picture and it demands more from us to fight until the end of the season and these are the games that we should win.
“It always feels good to be back in action and I’m happy that we won against one of the best teams in the league. This victory should inspire us to win our next fixtures.”
FC Platinum have found the going tough since losing their lengthy unbeaten run in the 2-5 thrashing at the hands of Scottland.
Ishmael Wadi, who was also returning into the fold, scored with a fine header.
This was Norman Mapeza’s fourth defeat in a row.
Mapeza’s troops are now 13 points behind leaders, Simba Bhora.
Makepekepe also ended their three-game winless run.
