SIX masked men brandishing pistols and iron bars stormed a company in Bulawayo and got away with more than US$1 000 after tying up two elderly security guards.

The gang outflanked and overran the guards aged 54 and 64 before jimmying a safe and ransacking an office for cash.

They were in and out in a flash in the daring dawn raid at Donnington.

Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident, which occurred on August 14, 2026 at around 5 AM along Dunlop Road.

“The victims are two male adults from Nkulumane 10 and Nketa 7, Bulawayo, who were on duty at their workplace,” Insp Msebele said.

She said the armed assailants struck without warning.

“Six unknown male adults wearing black balaclavas and speaking Ndebele approached the guards armed with pistols and a crowbar. They threatened to kill them and ordered them to comply,” she said.

The suspects bound the guards’ hands behind their backs with electric cables and marched them to the administration block where they forced them to lie face down.

“The accused persons used a crowbar to force open the main door, ransacked several offices and broke into a safe in the Finance Manager’s office, from which they stole US$400.

“They proceeded to force open the Resident Director’s office door and stole a further US$700 from a drawer before fleeing the scene,” said Insp Msebele.

The total value stolen is US$1 100. Nothing has been recovered.

Insp Msebele appealed to members of the public to assist with leads.

“We appeal to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to come forward and report at any nearest police station,” she said.
