Buhera Central legislator Mr Tangwara Matimba (MDC-T) said the recommendations were in the committee’s first report on the state of service delivery by the municipalities of Harare, Chitungwiza and Norton.
The report is currently under parliamentary debate.
“These people are causing too much congestion and confusion. We want them removed because we cannot continue to have children emulating these people,” he said. “We have been to these ranks and have held public hearings and the general feeling is that these touts are a problem.
“The committee is also recommending that no commuter omnibus should be allowed into town. There should be a holding area for them and then shuttle bus services transport commuters across town.”
Committee chairperson Ms Lynette Karenyi (MDC-T) said they were going to sit with the Transport, Communications and Infrastructure Development portfolio committee to come up with a common position.
