IT’S now official, Mandava Stadium will play host to a second cup final inside a year after the Premier Soccer League in consultation with the sponsors, decided to take the BancABC Sup8r Cup final to the Midlands. The final will feature fierce Zvishavane rivals FC Platinum and Shabanie Mine on 21 September.

It will be the second time for the stadium to play host to a cup final after the season opener NetOne Charity Shield which was won by Bulawayo’s Chicken Inn who beat Caps United.

“It’s Mandava Stadium,” said the PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele. Ndebele said gate charges have been pegged at $3 for the rest of the ground.

On the way to the final, FC Platinum booted out Bulawayo giants Highlanders 3-1 on penalties at Mucheke Stadium on 29 June before comprehensively beating Monomotapa 3-1 in the semi-finals at Barbourfields Stadium on 31 August.

The platinum miners got their goals through Donald Ngoma, man-of-the match Charles Sibanda and an own goal from Last Sithole .
On the other hand Shabanie Mine accounted for Chicken Inn whom they beat 2-1 at Mandava Stadium to pull through to the semi-finals where they performed  a giant killing act, dumping firm favourites Dynamos 4-3 after a penalty shootout.

The two teams were deadlocked 1-1 after regulation time. A cool prize of $120 000 awaits winners of the tournament.
