Bankers’ Football League explodes into life

season will see the increase of teams from 12 to 14 teams this term.
Defending champions Renaissance Merchant Bank, who have acquired a franchise to play in Division One, will be competing in the league although they are barred from interchanging players between the two leagues.
This season will also mark the return of CABS and Premier/Ecobank who did not participate during the 2010 league season but had been affiliates.
TN Bank will make their maiden feature in the championship.
BancABC will, however, not be participating this season for reasons, which were not availed to the league.
The projection of a better season is premised on the belief that individual banks will be able to spare a bit more towards the budgets of their teams.
“The 2010 league was spiced by a tournament which was sponsored by bottled water distributor Zimbabwe Life is Good (ZLG).
There is also reasonable assumption that ZLG would want to be associated with the league again this year,” said the Banker’s League at their annual meeting on January 29 this year.
The games will get underway this afternoon with Renaissance taking on Kingdom.
Last year’s runners-up Barclays Bank will be hoping for a flying start when they take on NMB.
Fixtures:
Stanbic v FBC, CBZ v ZB, Premier v RBZ, Renaissance v Kingdom, CABS v Interfin, TN Bank v POSB, NMB v Barclays.
