New West lie fourth on the log and have been playing well for the most part of the season but Bantu Rovers secretary-general Wilbert Sibanda said his team would go all out for maximum points.
“At this stage in the league we can ill-afford to drop points and on Saturday (today) we will try to win at all costs and the team is fired up and are not prepared to relinquish the top spot.
“The coaches have also been drilling the players about the importance of scoring as the top teams are separated by a few points and in the end the race for promotion might be determined on goal difference,” Sibanda said.
How Mine, still smarting from their 1-0 shock by Rufaro Rovers last weekend, will be seeking redemption when they welcome struggling Emakhandeni Pirates at their home ground.
How Mine coach Sheunesu Chaka said the boys had learnt from their slump last weekend and were raring to go back to their winning ways.
“We have been the team to beat for most of the season and last weekend’s lapse was unfortunate as that happens in football sometimes but I can tell you that the team is fired up and they want to make for that loss.
“Our goal is go step by step and win games as they come and see how we finish at the end of the season. Playing well is our primary goal,” he said.
Zimbabwe Saints, who played to a goalless draw last weekend with Black Boots, will also be looking for maximum points and a reversal in their fortunes when they square off with another deep end team Sizani Fruits and Vegetables at White City.
“Our position on the log is simply not where we want to be and although we have not been picking up points as we would like I am positive Saturday (today) will mark a reversal of fortunes but we cannot afford to underestimate any team,” Edmore Sibanda the Saints coach said yesterday.
